Call for Authors: Africa History and Culture.
ABC-CLIO is in the process of developing a comprehensive 21-volume Encyclopedia of World History. We are looking for interested scholars to prepare 500-1500 word articles with a global perspective in the area of African History and Culture.
Compensation: contributors will have their names associated with the entries they contribute, and will receive access to the e-book version of the entire encyclopedia (list price $1,800) for personal use.
Contributors assigned 3,000 words or more will also receive a credit of $300 towards purchase of ABC-CLIO books.

African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) Internship
For African or international female students…
Deadline: Rolling deadline
The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) is offering an internship as part of their capacity building programme. It is open to female students (both local and international) and to those who have just completed their studies and are looking for experience and mentorship in the area of African women’s human rights, gender mainstreaming, African feminist movements and communications.
The interns will work under the supervision and guidance of the programme officer in charge of a specific programme for a minimum period of 3 months and maximum period of 6 months. The interns are expected to agree with the programme officer on the terms of reference for the internship taking into account both FEMNET’s interest and the intern’s interest.
Each intern is expected to produce a report at the end of their internship period. This report should include activities undertaken during the internship period, key achievements, lessons learnt and recommendations. Any reports and/or publications developed during the internship period shall be the property of FEMNET.
Applicants must submit a detailed CV, academic transcripts and a cover letter to the Executive Director at admin@femnet.or.ke

Freedom Foundation has been given the responsibility of replicating its highly successful strategies and interventions in Nigeria over the next five years.
The Freedom Foundation REQUIRES:
A Project (Medical) Director - HIV/AIDS - NIGERIA
The Role:
In close cooperation with the Tulsi Chanrai / Freedom Foundation’s Senior Management team, the Project (Medical) Director HIV/AIDS will have two primary responsibilities:
1. Overall management and supervision of Tulsi Chanrai / Freedom Foundation’s current and future HIV/AIDS and other related programs in Nigeria.
2. New Country program development, including overall proposal preparation and submission for funding to potential international donors and private donors in Nigeria.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective and efficient management of all Freedom Foundation/Tulsi Chanrai’s HIV/AIDS Programs.
- To build and effectively manage a highly dedicated team.
- Supervise and give guidance to program managers on project design, implementation, evaluation, and personnel issues.
- Prepare detailed implementation plan, collect baseline data and develop operational procedures for the implementation of the new programs.
- Ensure compliance with the Freedom Foundation/Tulsi Chanrai, and other donors of operational and financial policies, procedures and reporting requirements; track grant spending.
- Coordinate with all Tulsi Chanrai/ Freedom Foundation team members for purposes of monitoring and evaluation of all its existing HIV/AIDS and other related programs.
- Prepare monthly, semi-annual, and final program reports.
Coordinate weekly with the FF Nigeria coordination team based at its head office at Bangalore. Facilitate site visits of the FF management team from India and be accountable to them for all aspects of the programs.
- Coordinate and maintain professional working relations with local authorities, private organizations, donors, and communities.
- Write, edit, and proofread proposals to be submitted to donor agencies and private funding sources through Tulsi Chanrai/Freedom Foundation.
- Secure new funding and extension funding for existing and future Tulsi Chanrai/Freedom Foundation’s programs in Nigeria
- Increase the Freedom Foundation’s / Tulsi Chanrai’s local, national and international visibility through public relations.

- To design, coordinate and implement training programs for T.C.F staff in conjunction with the inputs from Freedom Foundation.
- Perform additional assignments as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years program management experience.
- A basic medical degree with an additional qualification on Public health management, or clinician with experience of managing a large comprehensive HIV/AIDS, Maternity and Reproductive Health programming.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a series of complex, new and on-going activities around HIV/AIDS prevention and care with sound clinical knowledge, as well as provide leadership in a collegial team environment.
- Fluency in English must be excellent
- High degree of integrity and amiable disposition desirable in building appropriate internal and external relationships.
- Computer proficiency.
Terms of Appointment
The appointment will be for an initial period of 3 years contract which is renewable for a further 3 years period. Benefits include furnished accommodation with Family status ,paid home leave travel, vehicle for business and personal use, children education allowance for dependent children as per the Trust rules, assured savings in U.S.D including local salary of around 40,000/- U.S.D Per Annum .which is Tax free (negotiable). Salary will not be a constraint for the right candidate.

Macro International is looking for evaluators of radio programs in the following languages:
-Kirundi (Burundi, Rwanda)
-Swahili (Kenya, Tanzania)
-Amharic (Ethiopia)
-French (Congo, DRC, Gabon, Cameroon, etc.)
These evaluators (we call them control listeners) will be asked to listen to 4 half-hour programs broadcast in the specific language and evaluate the content, presentations, objectivity, etc. in a questionnaire. We will pay $500 honorarium for the task. It will take probably about 10-15 hours do to the work or less depending on a person.
Macro International is particularly interested in individuals with a master’s or other professional degree.
Individuals must also be living outside the country of evaluation, and be professionals in education, public policy, media, or something similar. Individuals must be familiar with current events in country of evaluation.
Control listeners can work remotely - at home or office.

There are three positions available on our bases in Malemba N’Kulu, Mitwaba/ Kasungeshi, and Mitwaba Sampwe (All three are in the Katanga Province).

Mission: Under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator:
• Coordinate 2007-2008 and possibly 2009-2011 Pan African ICT
Pedagogical Integration Research Agenda and other research programs and
projects
• Interface with national teams and Universities, manage and develop
partnerships
• Prepare and participate in research methods training workshops
• Elaborate communication and partnership strategy to ensure wide
participation and stimulate public and policy dialogue
• Edit a bilingual publication to share results regularly.
Profile required: Preferably MA or PhD in social science discipline with a
minimum of 7 years research and publishing experience mainly in relation to

UGANDA: GBV PREVENTION NETWORK COORDINATOR/SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER
